Call Me By Your Name is a sensitively handled film that talks of a very unexpected tale in a very novel and lovely setting. The bond shared by the lovers in this flick seems convincing and the heartbreak, sorrow and the joy that they go through is well executed. The setting is great and it was nice to see the quaint Italian town where life seems content and peaceful. The film however doesn’t grip at certain places and the low-budget feel as well as the dissolve transition used at several places takes away the charm. However, the content is strong and the ending is very unexpected and beautiful. Timothée Chalamet plays the part with utmost sincerity and takes the film many notches higher. Armie Hammer is also quite superb and gives a fine, restrained performance. A praiseworthy job by director Luca Guadagnino as well! Music is also great, with ‘Mystery Of Love’ being the most memorable track of the film!
My rating - *** ½ out of 5!
