Mirror had earlier reported (June 14) that Ajay Devgn is joining hands with Abhinav Shukla to produce the Kushal Zaveri-directed TV series Swami Ramdev: Ek Sangharsh on the life of yoga guru Ramdev. Now, we hear that National Award winning child artiste Naman Jain (Chillar Party, Jai Ho) is on board to play young Ramdev aka Ramkishan.
“Expectations are huge from this series and for Ramkishan, we wanted someone who’d fit the bill as the audience will get to know about Swami Ramdev’s early days for the first time. Naman is hugely talented for his age and has delivered a captivating performance,” Ajay told Mirror.
The 16-year-old actor has previously featured in Raanjhanaa and Bombay Talkies, and is playing Ramdev with the help of prosthetics. “It was not an easy task as he faced multiple challenges as a child. It was important for me to understand the social tensions of a small village. It was also a challenge to adopt his style in order to portray the character,” says Naman. The show is being shot in Jaipur and Mumbai currently and will air on Discovery Jeet channel.
