The characters Manoj Bajpayee has portrayed on the big screen have been varied. And the actor has always been appreciated for his efforts. However, this time around, he gets the opportunity to don many avatars in one film. Aiyaary, which created a lot of buzz because of its fresh casting of Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj, will see him in an interesting role.
MASTER OF TRICKERY
In the trailer, Manoj is seen donning several looks. His looks have generated intrigue among the janta. When the makers had announced the film, the title evoked immense whispers. What many didn’t realise was what the title meant. In fact, the trailer of the film briefly explained the meaning of it. Director of the movie, Neeraj Pandey, says, “Aiyaary represents someone who is a master of trickery. A beheroopiya of sorts. Aiyaary is a Persian word that I had first come across in Devaki Nandan Khatri’s novel in which he referred to them as shapeshifters and the tricks they perform as Aiyaary. Manoj’s character in the film is that of an army spy and this term suits his character just right. It summarises what a soldier resorts to in extreme crisis. Further, it defines our film beautifully.”
GENERATING INTRIGUE
In the trailer, Manoj is seen going from one disguise to another. The subject of the film itself lends it to be a Republic Day release. Neeraj has a great hold over films set against the backdrop of intelligence agencies, armed forces, etc. Known for films like A Wednesday, Special 26, and Baby, after helming a biopic — M S Dhoni: The Untold story, Neeraj has returned to the world of intrigue with Aiyaary.
