Mirror (May 29) had earlier reported that Tiger Shroff will be headlining the Rambo remake, to be directed by Siddharth Anand. The film was to roll in January but thanks to Tiger’s packed schedule, it will now only take off at the end of next year.

Siddharth confirmed the news, saying, “Yes, Rambo will start around November-December, 2018. Yes, we were to kick off in January but Tiger’s films from last year have been pushed ahead and that has led to every film getting delayed. Given how things stand today, there will be a window for Rambo now only in May which is summer in Europe. But our script needs snow so the decision to push the film to winter.”

Elaborating on his plans for the shoot, the director adds, “It will be filmed across Europe. Now that we have more time, we can plan it better. I am looking for some cost effective locations in the continent.”

Tiger is already known for his daredevil stunts but Siddharth informs that for his action-packed drama, the actor will train with international experts. “Our film will be the only Rambo in the universe because there is no Rambo in Hollywood anymore,” he states grandly. “We have expectations to live up to and standards to match. The action will be on a global level, the kind of visual spectacle you see in Hollywood blockbusters.”

Rambo is a film series based on the David Morrell novel First Blood with Stallone as John Rambo, a troubled Vietnam War veteran and former US Army Special Forces soldier who is skilled in many aspects of survival, weaponry, hand-to-hand combat and guerrilla warfare. The series consists of four films, including First Blood (1982), Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Rambo III (1988) and Rambo (2008).

All praise for his leading man, Siddharth asserts that Tiger was the only choice to step into Sylvester Stallone’s shoes. “He is the only hero in Bollywood, synonymous with action among the younger lot of actors. There was no debate on anyone but Tiger playing Rambo,” he signs off with complete conviction.
