Mirror
(August 29) had earlier reported that Salman Khan and Jacqueline
Fernandez would kick off the third instalment of the Race franchise,
directed by Remo D’souza, in Mumbai. We has now learnt that Bobby Deol,
who has earlier worked with producer Ramesh Taurani in his 1998
action-thriller, Soldier, and the 2007 suspense thriller, Naqaab, has
also joined the race.
Taurani who was on a recce in Abu Dhabi last weekend, confirmed the news, saying, “I have worked with Bobby earlier and both Soldier and Naqaab were a great experience. He is an absolute delight to work with, very professional and a really nice guy. He will be styled differently in the film and you will see him in a never-seen- before avatar.” When prodded about the 50-year-old actor’s character in the film, Taurani says, “In Race, all characters are grey. You will have to watch the film to figure out what exactly each one is playing.” Bobby, who will be seen in Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se with father Dharmendra and brother Sunny, will begin prepping for Race 3 soon.
Interestingly, Salman who recently returned from the Abu Dhabi schedule of an upcoming action film, will be heading back to the Gulf again for this franchise. There will be long schedules in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Plans are also on to re-work the original title track with the new leads grooving to it. They would begin shooting in November with action sequences. Salman and Bobby have earlier worked together in Samir Karnik’s 2008 film Heroes. Meanwhile, speculation is rife that some other actors, including Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi, Sidharth Malhotra, Vicky Kaushal and Sooraj Pancholi are also in Race 3.
Taurani refutes these rumours, saying, “Many names are floating around but only these three actors are confirmed. The rest will be announced whenever they are confirmed.” The original Race released in 2008, featuring Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Akshaye Khanna, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor and Sameera Reddy. The sequel opened five years later with Anil and Saif reprising their roles as Robert D’Costa and Ranvir Singh respectively. Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Jacqueline and Ameesha Patel were the new additions to the cast. Both films were helmed by directorduo Abbas–Mustan.
