On September 16, a massive fire broke out at R K Studios, Chembur. In a matter of hours, an entire studio floor and a treasure trove of rare memorabilia from Raj Kapoor's films of yesteryears were charred to ashes. Three weeks later, the Kapoor brothers are putting up a brave front and visiting the studio every single day for a few hours, watching labourers clearing the mess that was created on a dreadful Saturday noon, leaving them emotionally drained.

When BT spoke to Randhir Kapoor, he said, “Building a new state of the art studio is not easy and it will take us a lot of time. I cannot comment further because it requires a lot of patience and many rounds of paper work and permissions. Yes, we all make it a point to visit the studio once a day every day for a few hours. The offices have not been damaged. So, we go there and spend time with everyone who works at the studio. There is also a lot of running around that we're also doing right now. The authorities are really helpful. Fire brigade, police, insurance...there is so much yet to be done. Work is in progress.“
