Deepika Padukone had moved into her Prabhadevi residence in 2011 from a cosier place in Pali Hill. Now, Mirror has learnt that the actress is at loggerheads with the society members of her former residence over parking space, which is allotted through a lottery system, ever since it was rented out to tenants in 2014. The society has already handed over her space to another resident, contending that the actress’s occupancy expired when her flat was empty for eight months between two tenants.

According to Madhu Poplai, Secretary of the PHRA (Pali Hill Residents Association), who resides in the same society, Deepika wanted a parking space for one vehicle inside the compound but was allotted one further away due to unavailability. “The lottery system was established 25 years ago and the rules are the same for everyone. But it has irked Deepika and she has threatened to sue the managing committee,” Poplai informed, adding, “The spot for Deepika’s tenant was vacant for over eight months when they can be reserved for only three. It was given to another resident after a lottery.”

Meanwhile, another resident believes that the “narrow-minded” management is hostile towards Deepika because she is associated with the film industry and has been even asked by them to sell her apartment if she doesn’t reside there. “She’s being troubled for being an actress,” the resident told Mirror. Another source from the society revealed that the building’s management has been troubling the actress for years because of her celebrity status. “Few active members gave away the main parking spot that belonged to Deepika for almost 10 years without any kind of notice or intimation to her.

When she arrived in Pali Hill the other day, and wanted to park her car, she was taken aback as she had no idea about any of this. When she asked the concerned people about it, she was told that the management can’t do much if she is always busy and travelling,” the source said.
