On Thursday, Judwaa 2 hero Varun Dhawan landed up at the Bandra residence of Karisma Kapoor, one of the heroines of the 1997 original, to show her the new “Tan Tana Tan” number from the Sajid Nadiadwala production, which has also been scored by Anu Malik.
The old and the new guard ended up watching the track over a dozen times with Lolo impressed by the new heroines, Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu’s deft leg work in the song that has been rechristened “Chalti Hai Kya” for the sequel. “Lolo’s always been my favourite heroine. All her songs are fantastic. I’ve watched her work with dad (David Dhawan) since I was a kid. 'Tan Tana Tan' is special; it was Salman (Khan) bhai and Lolo’s most iconic song. Masterji (choreographer Ganesh Acharya), who directed the original as well as the new song, has given the iconic hook step a new spin,” Varun said, going on to shake a leg with Lolo on the track.
While Varun was swooning over Karisma, Dhawan sr told Mirror, “Two decades on, 'Tan Tana Tan' is a song that excites me. It is clearly the flavour of Judwaa and I loved having this song again in Part 2. Salman and Lolo have given the new version the same love it got 20 years ago.”
