Ranveer Singh is all set to play a cop, albeit, a corrupt one. Incidentally, this will be the actor’s first outing as a police officer. Ranveer will be teaming up with Rohit Shetty for the film, after the latter wraps up Golmaal Again.

Remake of Telugu film
Sources say that the film will be a remake of the 2015 Telugu hit, Temper. The south film revolves around a corrupt police officer and an influential smuggler, with whom he joins hands. It’s also about how the cop’s girlfriend brings about a transformation in him with the help of an honest constable.

Leading lady
While the south film starred Junior NTR and Kajal Aggarwal, so far, Rohit has only roped in Ranveer as the male lead. Wonder if he will cast Kajal as his love interest. After all, she had starred in Rohit’s earlier film, Singham.

First-time cop
Ranveer will start shooting for the movie after he finishes Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boys with Alia Bhatt. Incidentally, Ranveer will be the first actor from his generation to play a cop on screen. Neither, his BFF and Gunday partner-in-crime Arjun Kapoor has donned a cop’s uniform nor has Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan or Sidharth Malhotra.

When Ranveer played traffic cop
Earlier this year, Ranveer stepped into the shoes of a traffic cop for a day at a bike traffic rally. When he saw a helmet-less pillion rider, he asked him to get off the bike and told him he couldn’t be a part of the event unless he wore a helmet. “Follow traffic regulations strictly because carelessness can lead to the loss of lives,” he said.
