Dhanush recently wrapped up the first schedule of his international debut, 'The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir'. Calling it a learning experience, the actor says, "There was so much to discover as an actor, producer and director. I was surprised to see that one person was doing five people's jobs. It made me realise that if things are delegated, you can reduce the budget of the film."

Helmed by filmmaker Ken Scott, the film revolves around a fakir, Aja aka Ajatashatru [Dhanush], who sets out on a journey across the world in search of his father. The actor says he wasn't nervous about sharing screen space with Oscar nominee Bérénice Bejo and British comedian Ben Miller in the drama. "I was confident about my work. In fact, I was really excited as it was a new environment for me, and the artiste in me wanted to observe and learn as much as possible. I am sharing screen space with some of the best. It was almost like a crash course in filmmaking."

Dhanush, who is currently busy promoting his upcoming trilingual VIP-2, says Indian cinema is gaining recognition internationally. "People are talking about our films, and this is because our reach has increased. Earlier if a Hindi film was remade in South, no one was aware, but now, people come to know about it even before the project is finalised."
