Sunidhi Chauhan, who celebrated her 34th birthday with composer-husband Hitesh Sonik on Monday, admits that it was a particularly special one. While the singer, who is in the fifth month of her pregnancy, is still honouring commitments for song recordings, she has taken a break from live shows till the baby arrives. On Monday morning, Sunidhi recorded a number for Wajid Khan of Sajid-Wajid. Later, the team celebrated Sunidhi’s birthday at the studio with a cake.
“Our families and friends wanted to meet so there was a gathering at home but it wasn’t planned. Most of the time, I end up working on my birthday and this one was no different in that sense. Birthdays come once a year so I try to do something with my loved ones,” Sunidhi told Mirror.
While most mothers-to-be opt for a break from work in the run-up to the baby’s arrival, Sunidhi reveals that she is enjoying the recording sessions more than ever. “I have to be careful so live shows post-October will be on hold. I’ll return to them after six-seven months. But singing is not stopping because it doesn’t need to. I’m happy recording songs in Mumbai. I’m at peace and I don’t have to run from one place to another,” she explains.
And how is the prep for the big day going? “I have been preparing myself mentally but I have four-and-half months to go before the baby arrives. I’m new to this so I don’t know how to plan. Our respective families will have a go at it because they know better. Hitesh, of course, is really excited like any father-to-be,” Sunidhi signs off with a smile.
