The actress-duo play rivals in a series shot in Gujarat

Forty-three years after she made her acting debut in Dev Anand’s Ishk Ishk Ishk, Zarina Wahab is up for a reunion with her screen sister from the film, Zeenat Aman. But this time, the duo will be seen as arch enemies in an upcoming mini-series.
The actresses play college besties who reunite 30 years after graduation at a mutual friend’s destination wedding in Gujarat. Shooting for the nine-episode show kicked off on the outskirts of Baroda this week and will go on for the next 15 days. It also features Dolly Thakore, Yuvraaj Parashar, Diandra Soares and Mona Ambegaonkar.
“I’m a huge fan of Zeenat ji. She was already a star when I started my career,” Zarina told Mirror, adding that she will be glam, funny and desi to Zeenat’s westernised Joanna. “I’ve played lots of serious roles but this time my character is mean and catty.”
Director Kapil Sharma, who will also feature in the series titled Love, Life and Screw Ups, says that getting the two actresses onboard was not as mammoth a task as it seems. “I had heard that Zeenat ji had rejected mother roles in big banner productions and it took me two months of constant follow-ups to get a meeting with her. When I told her that she would be playing an older, naughtier version of her turn in Heera Panna and Manoranjan, she was happy. Zarina ji liked the fact that even though she would be seen as a mom, it was not a serious, intense role like the ones in Vishwaroopam and My Name Is Khan. It was a win-win for all,” he added.
