Sanjay Kapoor, whose TV debut had coincided with Karisma Kapoor’s on the show, Karishma: A Miracle of Destiny, is set for a comeback 13 years later. Titled Ishq Gunaah, the show is an Indian adaptation of the Turkish romantic-drama Aski-Memnu.
Sanjay will be seen in the role of a widower who falls for a younger woman, played by Smriti Kalra (Suvreen Guggal — Topper of The Year fame). A source associated with the show told Mirror, “It will feature some other notable names like Vikram Bhatt, who is on-board as the creative director, and it will be directed by the Bengali filmmaker Abhijit Das.” After a Goa schedule, the show is currently being filmed in Mumbai. The source adds that plans are afoot at Star Plus to promote the show in a big way ahead of its premiere in August.
The Turkish original aired from 2008-2010 and revolved around Adnan, a widower and father of two who falls in love with a woman named Bihter.
Meanwhile, Sanjay will also be seen on the big screen in Bombay Talkies 2 as part of Dibakar Banerjee’s short.
