MUNNA MICHAEL had a low first day as it grossed around 6.50-6.75 crore nett apprx and these collections were mainly helped by some mass centres recording average collections and that too single screens in these places. The film was a wide release and these collections for such a big release are poor. They are lower than last weeks JAGGA JASOOS and other films this year like KAABIL and HALF GIRLFRIEND. The huge problem going forward are the poor collections in multiplexes. It would be okay if it was metro multiplexes which were not collecting as that is not the target audience for the film but in the case of MUNNA MICHAEL its the multiplexes across the nation which have not collected. The first day collections are a little better than A FLYING JATT which grossed 6.02 crore nett on its first day and it was a partial holiday.
The other release has had a fair first day as per its costs and if it grows today (Saturday) which it should. The film grossed a little under 1 crore nett on day one and has chances of a 4 crore nett plus weekend which is decent for a film which cost 6 crore to make and release. At some high end metro multiplexes it had collections which were same as MUNNA MICHAEL.
The Hollywood film DUNKIRK has done well with business of 3 crore nett apprx and is set for a good weekend. It is easily the best performing film in multiplexes and these collections have come from just the English version as the film has not been dubbed.
