MID-DAY (July 17, 2017)
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar took to Twitter on Sunday to call upon Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi, and sought his intervention into the party’s constant interference in the press conferences of his upcoming directorial venture, Indu Sarkar. “Dear @OfficeOfRG, after Pune, I have to cancel today’s press con at Nagpur. Do you approve [of] this hooliganism? Can I have my freedom of expression? ” Bhandarkar tweeted.
His post came after a media interaction was cancelled in Nagpur because of protests by Congress workers. “In Nagpur today for #InduSarkar promotions. Looking for some great media interactions in the heart of India,” the filmmaker had earlier tweeted.
A couple of days ago, another press conference in Pune had to be called off because of the protests by party workers. Bhandarkar shared on social media that his team was left stranded “like hostages in the hotel room”. He wrote, “Congress workers have barged in the hotel lobby and created ruckus. My team and I are stranded like hostages in [the] hotel room.”
