Mirror (June 16) was the first to report that after Samir Karnik’s 2011 action-comedy Yamla Pagla Deewana and the 2013 Sangeeth Sivan-directed follow-up, Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby Deol are reuniting for the third instalment, which marks Punjabi filmmaker Navaniat Singh’s Bollywood debut.

Mirror has now learnt that Kajal Aggarwal has been roped in to play Bobby’s love interest. “Kajal was signed a month ago. She will play a modern girl with different shades to her character and will start prepping up soon. Shooting commences in early August with the first schedule set in Hyderabad’s Ramoji Film City,” informs a source close to the development.

Besides several Tamil and Telugu projects, Kajal has previously featured in Rohit Shetty’s Singham opposite Ajay Devgn, Neeraj Pandey’s Special 26 with Akshay Kumar and Deepak Tijori’s Do Lafzon Ki Kahani with Randeep Hooda.

Dheeraj Rattan, who has written films like Jatt & Juliet 2 and Romeo Ranjha, has written the script, which is an emotional tug-of-war peppered with humour.

“It won’t be a continuation of the earlier parts but a completely new story with Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby as new characters,” the source says, adding that the film will also be shot in Punjab, Mumbai and Gujarat.

Sunny is currently busy filming his son Karan’s launch vehicle, Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, in Manali.
