This week is mainly dominated by two Hollywood releases and WONDER WOMAN easily crushed the much hyped BAYWATCH at the box office in India. WONDER WOMAN was released with no promotion and in just English rather than the the four language release of English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

It managed to collect 2.50 crore nett on day one which is a pretty good collection for a film which is releasing in English only. The film managed to pick up well in the evening shows and should come out with a healthy weekend.

BAYWATCH is a pretty much a disaster in India like it was in the States. The film grossed just 1.50 crore nett apprx on day one and was released in four languages (English, Hindi, Tamil and Telegu). It hardly mattered that it featured an Indian star like Priyanka Chopra. The attempt was to create hype that it was an Indian star in a Hollywood film but the hype stays just within the media circle and hardly reaches the audience as they are simply not interested. Earlier this year XXX: RETURN OF XANDER CAGE with Deepika Padukone had flopped but BAYWATCH has topped that and is a disaster.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: SALAZAR'S REVENGE has seen a drop in collections on day eight to around 60 lakhs nett and the film will probably finish up with around 26 crore nett lifetime business which is below the mark.

BAYWATCH has failed badly in India as it failed to grow on Saturday. The collections of the film are 3.50 crore nett in two days including paid previews and with the India v Pakistan match on Sunday it could struggle to hit 5 crore nett for the weekend. WONDER WOMAN has done pretty well as it showed growth of 30% apprx on Saturday to take its two day to 5.75 crore nett. This film has done decent business considering it has been released in English only but it also has the hurdle of the India v Pak match which will curtail its weekend business. The apprx collections of WONDER WOMAN are as follows

There were 10 new Hindi releases this week but none of them could any business. DOBAARA - SEE YOUR EVIL was best of the lot with around 25 lakhs nett while HANUMAN DA DAMDAAR had the best trend on the day which could lead to the best weekend

The new Hindi films fared poorly with DOBAARA - SEE YOUR EVIL grossing around 75 lakhs nett and the animation film HANUMAN DA DAMDAAR not finding any weekend audience despite being for families and children.
