With a budget of Rs10 crore, ‘Super Singh’ is the cheapest Indian superhero movie and the most expensive Punjabi movie to have been made.

SUPER SINGH (Punjabi) had a good first day as it grossed around 1.80 crore nett on day one across India. The film should show growth on Saturday as the film had far better occupancy post the afternoon compared to the morning shows but then Sunday will be tougher due to the big match between India v Pakistan. It will be then down to the weekdays to cover for the Sunday loss. The film grossed 1.37 crore nett in East Punjab and over 40 lakhs nett in the rest of India.  The opening at an all India level is the fifth biggest ever and in East Punjab it is the sixth biggest ever. The top Punjabi film opening days at an all India level are as follows.
1. Sardaarji 2 - 2,37,00,000
2. Sardaarji 1 - 2,24,00,000
3. Manjhe Bistre - 2,08,00,000 (Holiday)
4. Ambarsariya - 1,97,00,000 (Holiday)
5. Super Singh - 1,80,00,000

Diljit Dosanjh has four out of the top five openers and this film should also have gone over that 2 crore nett mark but its possible that it being a sardaar superhero film, it had a resemblance to A FLYING JATT released last year. This could have kept some of that morning audience away and when word got around that it is far better than that film, SUPER SINGH picked up.
