With morally-conscious celebrities venturing into business, the fashion and beauty industries have seen an overhaul in the way A-listers are promoting their products. After Jacqueline Fernandez was applauded for not testing her range of lipsticks on animals, her buddy, Sonam Kapoor, who recently launched a brand of handbags along with sister Rhea, has been appreciated for not including leather in the product. The duo has been awarded the Compassionate Business Award by PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals India).

Speaking to mid-day, Rhea says, “This has come as a pleasant surprise. We are thankful for the recognition.” This isn’t the first time that Sonam, who was crowned PETA's Hottest Vegetarian Celebrity in 2016, has made a statement about animal welfare. In 2015, she wrote a letter to the Minister Of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, urging him to not revoke the ban on classroom dissection for university life-science and zoology students.
