Nayandeep Rakshit (DNA; June 10, 2017)

Rohit Shetty’s name is synonymous with action in Bollywood. Little wonder then, he’s been roped in for the stunt-based reality show for the third time. The director hosted the fifth and sixth season, and is back for the eighth. Rohit says that he has an emotional connect with the show and cannot be a trophy judge on any other music or dance-based reality shows.

Emotional connect
“It feels great to be back. Before me, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra and Arjun Kapoor have hosted some seasons. There was a long gap on the show and when they wanted to come back, they wanted to do it with me. We did two seasons and worked really hard on them. It’s not like other shows — you don’t just dress up and judge. There’s a lot of blood, sweat, and planning. Time is secondary, but I had put in a lot of emotions and hard work to get it back on track, so it was an emotional moment for me when the channel asked me to come on board again.”

Skipping the last season
I am still shooting for Golmaal Again, but I knew somehow that I will do this show because I want it to do really well again. I could not do it last time because they wanted to shoot in November and Dilwale was releasing in December. There was no way I could have gone in November 2015, that too having a release in one month’s time. But there is still time for Golmaal Again to release, so I could easily accommodate this show.

For the heck of it
I would love to do shows where I can give my input. That can happen if I do shows I have knowledge about. I did Comedy Circus for three-four years and then this one came. It’s not like I don’t want to do reality shows, but I should add something. I don’t want to dress up, sit on a chair and make comments. Then you’re not emotionally investing into the show. You are then just waiting for pack-up to happen. I should have an emotional connect with that genre.
