The debate over celebs endorsing fairness creams is far from over. While Abhay Deol sparked off the discussion after slamming celebs for perpetuating discrimination on the basis of one’s skin colour, Jacqueline Fernandez has very specific reasons for not endorsing such products.

Use it before you sell it
Says the actress, “As a brand endorser, one has to be aware of the responsibility that comes with endorsing their products. As the face of the brand, one has to be using the product themselves. Investing in the brand means you believe in it. However, falsely advertising to impressionable fans is wrong. One has to use their own product before selling it to the public.”

Bad reflection
Jacqueline finds it unfortunate when people feel it is okay to discriminate on the basis of skin colour. She says, “Ads such as these sends a wrong message to kids. It’s a bad reflection of society.”

Against discrimination
Jackie says she would never endorse fairness creams and is “definitely someone who speaks up against discrimination. I would be very careful of products that influence society in such a way. I am against anything discriminatory.”
