Ramesh Sippy's 1995 directorial, Zamana Deewana, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Raveena Tandon, was a box-office dud. The filmmaker, known for movies like Seeta Aur Geeta (1972) and Sholay (1975), didn't go behind the camera for two decades.
He made a comeback in 2015 when he started working on 'Shimla Mirchi'. Hema Malini and Rajkummar Rao were roped in for the lead roles. While the film is complete, there is no news about its release.
When mid-day caught up with Sippy at the launch of his film school, he said, "I am also waiting [for it to hit screens]. I have finished the film. Now it's up to Viacom (the studio backing the movie) to make release plans."
Sources claim that Shimla Mirchi is facing problems due to lack of buyers. Sippy reacted to the claim, saying, "That I cannot answer, because that's not what I have been told. When I have the right answer, I will let you know."
