After a stellar performance in Neerja, Sonam Kapoor is looking forward to a busy 2017 with three films. Her sister Rhea Kapoor's production, Veere Di Wedding, which kicks off in April, and is directed by Aisha director Shashanka Ghosh, is followed by Rajkumar Hirani's Sanjay Dutt biopic, in which she is set to reunite with her Saawariya co-star Ranbir Kapoor as his ladylove. Now, Mirror has learnt that the 31-year-old actress has signed up for R Balki's next directorial that features Akshay Kumar as the male lead.

Balki met Sonam last month when the duo had a lengthy narration and discussion about the project. “It was an immediate go-ahead from the actress after Balki narrated it to her. She loves the script and will kick off shooting next year,“ adds a source close to the development.

The slice-of-life film also features Balki regular Amitabh Bachchan in a special appearance while the filmmaker has retained his original crew including cinematographer PC Sriram and composer Ilayaraaja.

This will be Sonam's second film with Akshay after they shared screen space five years ago in Anees Bazmee's ill-fated romance-comedy, Thank You.
