Thanks to her versa tile
voice and unique style, Sunidhi Chauhan has always been on top of her
game, whether it's singing some of the best Bollywood numbers or rocking
a live concert. In an industry where the shelf life of artistes is
limited, she has managed to hold the fort for more than two decades.
When asked the secret behind belting out hit numbers consistently,
Sunidhi says, “I didn't even realise it. How times flies! When I started
my career, it was very difficult because the audience was accustomed to listen to only certain kind of voices. I want to thank people
who gave me a chance. If you're keen on learning, you can keep singing
all your life. But you should also adapt to new sounds and feel the
pulse of the audience.“
This year, the singer has had her kitty full with songs across genres. She shares her favourite tracks of 2016, “I really enjoyed singing Darkhaast (Shivaay) and Je t'aime (Befikre). Every track I sang was different from the other. Just Go To Hell Dil (Dear Zindagi) is a soft rock number, while Baadal (Akira) was reminiscent of the melodious songs from the 90s. Je T'aime has a very folk vibe to it, while Darkhaast is a ballad.“
Sunidhi also made her acting debut in the short film, Playing Priya, this year and impressed critics. Will she do more films? “I loved the experience. And I'm overwhelmed by the encouragement I have received from my seniors in the acting fraternity. I've been offered some good scripts and will hopefully be a part of one soon,“ she replies.
For 2017, she is also gearing up to release her own music. “It has been more than 10 years since my last album came out, so I am really looking forward to it,“ Sunidhi signs off.
