Under three years old in Bollywood’s playback scene, Jubin Nautiyal is excited about his latest project, Hrithik roshan-starrer Kaabil. The singer, who has lent his voice to three tracks in the film, is grateful to the star and makers for the experience.

“It all began at a music awards show where I won the Upcoming Male Vocalist of the Year award for Zindagi Kuch Toh Bata from Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015). I sang two lines from the song; Hrithik and Rakesh ji were seated in the front row. A few days later, Sanjay ji (Gupta, Kaabil director), with whom I had earlier worked in Jazbaa (2015), called me to Rajesh ji’s (Roshan, music composer) studio.”

He says the makers wanted an innocent voice for Hrithik’s character. “We recorded at Rajesh ji’s home studio. Post dubbing, he called Rakesh ji (Roshan, producer) over. They said they wanted to explore my voice further. I got nervous. Later, I recorded the title track, a groovy dance number,” says Jubin, who also recorded a melancholic version of the same track. “When i told Rakesh ji I’m a huge Hrithik fan, he said, ‘Hrithik is a fan of your voice. He has been listening to your songs’,” he gushes.
