In yet another case of attack on cops, film producer Firoz Nadiadwala’s bodyguards assaulted a traffic constable who tried to stop them from disrupting traffic. The cop, identified as Balu Patil, was discharged after treatment and the accused were handed over to the police by the public.
According to the police, the incident took place around 8.30 pm when the producer’s wife, with her two kids, arrived at a Juhu school for an event. After it concluded, she asked her driver to bring the car around. The two bodyguards and the driver proceeded towards her Mercedes while the signal was red. The driver took the car in reverse while the bodyguards stopped the traffic to enable the vehicle to move freely.
On-duty traffic constable Balu Patil approached one of the bodyguards, identified as Khan, and pulled him up for disrupting the traffic, instructing him to move aside and take out his vehicle after the other cars had passed. Khan started arguing and raining punches on Patil, one of which landed on Patil’s stomach. Looking at the commotion the commuters rushed to Patil’s rescue, helping him on his feet before catching hold of Khan and forcing the vehicle to stop. Local police was alerted soon and Patil taken to the nearby hospital. Senior Inspector Sunil Gosalkar of Juhu Police Station said,” The case is being registered and investigations are on.” Nadiadwala, who is currently not in the country, had his business partner Arjun Kumar contact Mirror to say that it was “an extremely minor scuffle, the Nadiadwalas respect the law and did not mean to offend anyone.”
