Dear Zindagi collects 56.75 cr in 10 days

DEAR ZINDAGI had solid second day growth of around 30% as it grossed around 11.25 crore nett taking its two day total to 20 crore nett apprx. This is a very good second day number considering that the film opened well due to the presence of Shah Rukh Khan. The fact that Saturday is the main day for premium multiplexes also helped its cause. The growth on Sunday will be less as the cinemas where it is scoring don't collect well on the Sunday late evening and night shows. Still it will be a 32 crore nett type weekend and that is a big figure for this film. The film managed to do better in North India than day one but it is South, Mumbai (Exc. Gujarat/Saurashtra) and West Bengal where the film is faring well. The collections for the first two days are as follows.
Friday - 8,75,00,000
Saturday - 11,25,00,000
TOTAL - 20,00,00,000
The film is a success but still the film is a content film so it has to do more than just ride on the star pull of Shah Rukh Khan as the content has to also work and for that Monday is crucial. Monday will tell if the film has found appreciation with that limited audience of premium multiplexes in the metros.

DEAR ZINDAGI had a good first weekend grossing 32.50 crore nett with good growth over the weekend. The film has fared very well in Mumbai, Nizam/Andhra, Mysore, Tamil Nadu/Kerala and West Bengal. It is the multiplexes in these circuits which have done very well. The multiplexes of Delhi NCR and East Punjab under performed compared to the above markets. The film was a success on day one with the sort of initial it took and the weekend has put it in a better position but this is mainly to do with the presence of Shah Rukh Khan whose has given the film face value which is far above the content of the film. The collections for the first weekend are as follows.

The content will decide what happens to the film on Monday and after. The appreciation will be limited but if this limited target audience comes over the next 10-15 days then a good final total will be possible. These type of films have a cap in business as its a limited audience so even though the weekend is much higher than similar films like PINK and KAPOOR & SONS, the lifetime will probably find it hard to go above the range as there is only that many people who will take to this sort of film

DEAR ZINDAGI had a strong hold on Tuesday as collections dropped just 5% from yesterday after 50% plus drop on Monday. The Monday drop was a little more than normal due to the strong weekend (for this type of film) but it has consolidated well on Tuesday. The film is best in South India with Mysore (excellent), Nizam/Andhra and Tamil Nadu/Kerala all having strong collections. The business in Mysore has already crossed 4.50 crore nett in five days which is not far short of the lifetime business of NEERJA (6.10 crore) and KAPOOR & SONS (5.25 cr). It will easily cross these films in Mysore and also another similar film PINK as well as films like FAN and RUSTOM. The collections for the first five days of DEAR ZINDAGI are as follows.

The lifetime business of the film will be decided by that Thursday to Friday and how big it can grow back on Saturday. A 60 crore nett total seems to be there and remains to be seen if it can go higher and by how much.

DEAR ZINDAGI had a good first week grossing 46.75 crore nett in its first week. The film had a good weekend of 32.50 crore for the type of film it is and the weekday business has shown drops but that is because the film got a high weekend for the type of film it is. Also among its better circuits is Mumbai and which does tend to fall faster than other circuits. The initial has ensured a good first week number far ahead of similar films. The first week collections are the 13th best of the year but if we look at Worldwide then it is the 7th highest of the year and approaching the 100 crore mark Worldwide.
As far as domestic circuits are concerned then Mysore is leading the way with excellent business of almost 5.25 crore, West Bengal is next best as it has crossed 3 crore and it is followed by Tamil Nadu/Kerala, Nizam/Andhra and Mumbai. Mumbai has grossed 14 crore nett in its first week. The other circuits are less and are either average or low. The lifetime business of the film will be determined by what happens on Friday and then how big the jump is on Saturday. The film will have consumed a lot of its limited audience in the first week and it could see a fall on Friday. The main new release KAHAANI 2 is also aimed at the same markets which are the multiplexes. Not only multiplexes but also the same circuits as the only multiplex region where DEAR ZINDAGI is low is North and going by results of KAHAANI (2012) that will also find it tough going in North India.

DEAR ZINDAGI has held pretty on its second Friday as it dropped around 20% from the previous day. The drop from day one is 74% apprx but even that is decent considering how the film opened. The collections on the second Friday are 2.25 crore nett which takes its total to 49 crore nett in eight days. There should be big growth on Saturday which should enable the film to hit 9-10 crore nett range. If the weekend does come out in that range the lifetime business of the film can be 65-70 crore nett which is similar to the other successful five city films like NEERJA, KAPOOR & SONS and PINK. This has done it in a different way than those films as it had a star cast but eventually its a very limited audience. The business of DEAR ZINDAGI is as follows.

The film is continuing to be very strong in the South with Mysore looking to be at 6 crore nett plus in two weeks and Tamil Nadu/Kerala being amomg the top five films of 2016.

DEAR ZINDAGI is doing well in its second weekend as it jumped around 55% on its second Saturday with 3.50 crore nett apprx business. The total is now 52.50 crore nett in nine days which is very good for the cost of the film and the type of film it is but not so good considering the actors involved. Both DEAR ZINDAGI and KAHAANI 2 are doing their best business in the same circuits which will mean KAHAANI 2 being affected as these circuits are having to choose between the two. The business of DEAR ZINDAGI till date is as follows.

DEAR ZINDAGI had a fair second weekend of around 10 crore nett. The drop from the first weekend is around 70% which is par for the course. The second weekend is lower than other films with similar target audience like NEERJA, KAPOOR & SONS and PINK but it was way ahead in the first week due to star factor. Barring KAPOOR & SONS it should beat the figures of the other films. This is allowing for the tax free status of NEERJA which got tax benefit very early and in GROSS terms did less than PINK. Mysore and West Bengal lead the way with Mysore topping 6 crore (better than HOUSEFULL 3, KAPOOR & SONS and NEERJA in ten days) and West Bengal crossing 4 crore nett (crossing SHIVAAY, KAPOOR & SONS and NEERJA in ten days). The business of DEAR ZINDAGI till date is as follows.
