If you remember the
flickering light suit worn by Amitabh Bachchan in Saara Zamana Haseeno
Ka Deewana from Yaarana, be prepared to be in for a surprise. The track,
with a huge amount of nostalgia attached to it has been remixed for
Kaabil and is set to release tomorrow. The sensuous Urvashi Rautela
features in the song, which is a part of the narrative. Incidentally,
the filmmakers had finalised another song. As producer Rakesh Roshan
reveals, “Our director Sanjay Gupta came up with the idea of using this
song. Since it was composed by my brother, composer Rajesh (Roshan), I
thought it was a good idea. I discussed it with him and Hrithik and when
they also agreed, I spoke to the music label about the rights.“
Talking
about the song, choreographer Ahmed Khan says, “We had close to 100-odd
dancers and 200 junior artistes. We used them to add energy to the song
rather than having them dance behind Urvashi.“
Ahmed, who has previously worked with both Rakesh and Rajesh Roshan, is excited about their collaboration. “I have worked with them on Kaho Na...Pyaar Hai and Krazzy 4 and it was a great experience.Rajesh Roshan had spun magic with the song in the 80s but that didn't stop him from improvising the contemporary version,“ he says.

Sanjay Gupta reveals why he didn’t cast an A-Lister for an item song in Kaabil

Urvashi Rautela will feature in Kaabil for the Saara Zamana remix, which was originally picturised on Amitabh Bachchan in Yaarana (1981). Rautela’s version sees her in four outfits with 1,000 metres of fabric being used to make them.
Kaabil director Sanjay Gupta says their version is ostentatious and imaginative. “When we shot our version, we booked every single light available for shooting to create a similar impact on our set. Urvashi was nervous as hell, but she gave it her all!”
Ask him why he didn’t opt for a top actress and he explains, “I shot Ishq Samandar with Isha Koppikar, Maahi Ve with Malaika Arora and Saaki Saaki with Koena Mitra, when they weren’t as known. We were the first to do a song with Sunny Leone with Laila in Shootout At Wadala. I have always picked new talent and presented them. None of these actresses were launched with these songs. We just came along and revamped the person and presented them in my own way. Those songs are still remembered today!”
