In October earlier this
year, actor Ali Fazal was in London shooting for the Judi Dench-starrer
British American biographical drama, Victoria & Abdul, when he decided
to ring in his 30th birthday on October 15 with an Anoushka Shankar
concert. After the show, the birthday boy met the musician and during
the hangout session that followed, the duo realised that they had
similar musical and writing aesthetics. They met again in Delhi last
week, when the actor was shooting for the Fukrey sequel, while the
37-year-old musician was in the Capital for a concert. Now, Mirror has
learnt that the duo is all set to collaborate on a single, for which Ali
will write the lyrics.
A source close to the development has revealed that it will be a Hinglish number and unlike most of Anoushka's instrumental tracks. Although it is yet to be decided whose voice will feature in the song, plans are afoot to record it in London in February, 2017.
Ali is aiming to complete the lyrics by early-January. This will be his third international project after the Hollywood film, Furious 7, and Victoria & Abdul, which is set for a September, 2017 release. While he played Safar, a friend of hackivist Ramsey (played by Nathalie Emmanuel) in the former, in the Stephen Frears-directed drama he portrays the titular role of Abdul Karim, a young clerk who travelled from India to be a part of the Queen Victrora's golden jubilee celebrations in 1887 and forged an unlikely friendship with her. He was eventually appointed her Indian secretary and served her during the last 15 years of her rule.
