For her acting debut, the Telugu film, Loafer, Disha Patani had filmed extensively at Jodhpur’s Mehrangadh fort and palace. Two years later, she returned to shake a leg with Jackie Chan on a song, for her international debut, Kung Fu Yoga. “The Chinese loved the costumes and danced a lot. You will see the crew doing thumkas in the bloopers at the end of the film,” informs Disha, pointing out that apart from her Indian co-stars Sonu Sood and Amyra Dastur, the film also features four Chinese actors, including Jackie and Miya Muqi. “Miya is a yoga instructor. Coming to India was a joyride for her. She enjoyed jumping around in ghagra choli.”
Directed by Stanley Tong, the adventure thriller follows a Chinese archaeology professor who teams up with an Indian professor to locate a lost Magadha treasure. “Jackie’s films typically don’t focus on the love story but you’ll know something’s brewing between Jackie’s and my character,” Disha winks. And when the cameras weren’t rolling, the actress enjoyed teaching Jackie the filmi moves to “Tu Tu Meri” from Bang Bang. “Jackie’s mesmerised by India. He bought a CD and played the songs all the time while shooting in China,” she says.
Disha will be seen performing martial arts, intense action and gymnastics in the film too. “It was a dream come true to shoot with Jackie. I hope filmmakers also see me as a girl who can punch as well as she can dance, after this film!”
