Ranveer Singh has stepped in
as the new brand ambassador for an aerated drink that has been endorsed
by Salman Khan for the last 12 years. The brand was reportedly looking
for an actor who would connect with the youth better. Salman whose
contract has been renewed four times in the course of his association
with the brand, recorded his last voice-over four months ago. Beginning
next month, Ranveer will shoot a campaign at one-third of Sallu's fee.
Sources close to the actor reveal that he charges between Rs 4-6 crore
per endorsement deal, taking his current annual ad portfolio to
approximately Rs 50 crore.
The actor seems to have emerged as the new favourite and is the face for over 14 brands, from sportswear, shaving cream and noodles to deodorant, phones, innerwear and real estate. “He likes to take ownership of a brand, sitting in on creative meetings and being involved with the scripting. His experience as a junior copywriter from his pre-Bollywood days is an added advantage and this along with his flamboyance and infectious energy has made him a poster boy,“ reveals a source close to the development.
The source points out that despite his popularity Ranveer respects what an actor with 25 years in the industry brings to the table and, at the same time, understands the market. “Now, he is looking at equity stakes and long-term association with brands,“ says the source. The actor is currently prepping for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's, Padmavati. After growing his hair out for Ram-Leela and shaving his head for Bajirao Mastani, he is now grooming a long beard for his next. But hey, if the brands don't mind, we don't either!
