Veteran filmmaker Ramesh
Sippy will come out with his memoir in 2018 which will have “wonderful
inside stories“ about the films
he has been associated with, including Andaz, Seeta Aur Geeta, Sholay,
Shakti, Shaan and Sagar. First Cut: A FilmMaker's Fifty-Year Odyssey
will be published by HarperCollins India.
“It is not really an autobiography. It is more a memoir of my life and
times through some of the most happening decades of Hindi cinema,“ says
Sippy. “While I do have wonderful inside stories about the films I have
been involved in, which will hopefully be fun to read, I also hope that I
will be able to impart important lessons in the art and craft of
filmmaking and the whole business aspect of this maddening, invigorating
world which never lets go of you once it has you in its thrall.“
Sippy was also the creator of the mega TV serial Buniyaad and an intrinsic part of what is now lovingly called 'Bollywood Retro' of the 1970s.
