They might have done just three films together, but Prabhu Dheva's equation with K Subaash goes way beyond movies. “My father (Sundaram Master) and Subhash sir had worked together on many Mani Ratnam films - my dad as the choreographer and he as an AD. So, I knew him since I was in school. Our journey is more than the films we did together; I respect him like my father. In fact, he gave me two of the best Tamil movies in my career. He even wrote some of my popular songs,“ says Prabhu, who was inconsolable while recalling his association with the late director-writer.

Interestingly, Prabhu's next directorial in Tamil has been written by Subaash. An emotionally overwrought Prabhu adds, “The film was okayed only because he had written it. He was a jovial person. I met him once in Mumbai when he was working with Rohit Shetty and he joked how I've become such a big director. It's kind of him to say that when he himself was such a popular name in Bollywood. He knew about his health condition and would often tell me that he wanted to make the most of his time. It's difficult to come to terms with his loss.“


SAJID-FARHAD REMEMBER K SUBAASH
Farhad of director-writer duo Sajid-Farhad shared some fond memories of the veteran director-writer with us. “We salute Subaashji's contribution to our career. We first met while working on Rohit Shetty's Sunday and later joined hands for Chennai Express. Subaashji later guided us through our directorial debut, Entertainment, and also saw us through Housefull 3 last year. Those films thrived on his concepts. For the last 18 months, he was on dialysis. He always joked that Sajid and I wrote the line 'Maut ko yun hi log badnaam karte hain, zindagi zyada takleef deti hai' keeping him in mind. His demise has come as a huge shock to us, but we're happy that he's in a better place now.“
