Walks instead of working out at the gym...

A few months ago, a slipped disc saw Abhishek Bachchan bedridden for over a month. A month of rest got rid of the pain and while AB Jr resumed work soon after, he was advised to not work out till his back recovered completely.

However, instead of gaining weight due to inactivity, he lost eight kilos in three months. The fitness enthusiast that he is, he thoroughly researched what he could do, without straining his back. We ask him to share the secret. Of course, he says, it meant giving up on some of his favourite foods like rajma chawal, spicy chicken, chocolate and banana chips. “When you are in bed for over a month you love eating all kinds of comfort food — which I did — but now I have given all that up. And apart from cutting down on all my favourite food, I also walk a lot every day as I can’t work out at the gym. Walking is a great way of keeping fit till I resume my workouts,” he shares. No matter how tough and hectic his schedule is, the actor walks a minimum of 15,000 steps (12 km) every day (an equivalent of a 60-minute workout) — a track he keeps count on meticulously using a pedometer.
