For the seventh edition of the nine-day Celebrate Bandra festival, held between November 12-20, two all-star football teams will play a charity match. This is the first time both teams have associated with this initiative.
What’s new?
On November 13, the All Stars Football Club (ASFC) will take on the India Stars (top players from the Indian football and hockey team) in a football game at the St Andrews Astro Turf in Bandra West.
The last ASFC match was held between them vs Parliamentarians in New Delhi on July 24, this year. The actors had routed the Members of Parliament 10-0 in the match held at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Delhi.
The cause
The ASFC has donated two school buses to Aseema (an NGO that works with underprivileged children for their municipal school), donated a school bus and installed solar energy panels on their building terrace to St Catherine Of Sienna — a home for destitute children. They have also commissioned a rainwater-harvesting project at Holy Family Hospital and donated a coach to Kripa Foundation and an Industrial Washing Machine and an Instrument Sterilisation machine to Shanti Avedna Ashram, Bandra. Earlier this year, they commissioned a recycled waste plant for the production of cooking gas at a communications office in Bandra.
