From Mandy Moore’s contemporary clothing to Katherine Heigl’s medical scrubs and Katy Perry’s fake eyelashes, Hollywood celebs have been expanding their portfolios beyond films with fashion and beauty lines. In the last couple of years, Salma Hayek, Drew Barrymore, Eva Mendes and Miranda Kerr too have propped up new businesses.
Following in their footsteps, Kangana Ranaut and Deepika Padukone, earlier this year, lent their names to top clothing names and announced lines tailor-made for young girls. Sonam Kapoor and sister Rhea will also be kicking off their own online clothing store soon. Amy Jackson revealed her plans to Mirror (August 22) to design and supply wigs and false eyelashes to high-end salons. The British model-actress’s new business is expected to flag off in London by the year-end. Joining this list is another Bollywood A-lister, Katrina Kaif, who during her many trips to her home city, joined hands with a global beauty manufacturer to launch her own retail line. She has ended her annual contract with one of the world’s leading beauty and cosmetic brand to fly solo.
Over the last week, the 33-year-old-actress has been filming Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos in Mumbai and partying with buddies Sidharth Malhotra, Aditya Roy Kapur and mentor-friend Karan Johar, all of whom are privy to her new biz plan.
“Katrina is looking at speciality retailing which will make her looks from all her films available to young girls who are her target group. The products will be organic and cruelty-free, available in UK stores as well as online by the year-end. She plans to bring the retail chain to Mumbai by January 2017,” a source close to the actress informed Mirror.
