(Crisp) Movie Review: DEATH IN SARAJEVO by FENIL SETA

Death In Sarajevo is a film by Danis Tanovic, who made the very famous No Man’s Land (that defeated Lagaan at the Oscars) and recently Tigers (international film starring Emraan Hashmi; never got released in India). Sadly, the film doesn’t really impress much. Those well versed with Bosnian history might be able to get the connection but for the rest, most aspects of the film might go a bit bouncer. On the positive side, the setting of the film (in a five star hotel that’s on the verge of closing down) is damn interesting. Also, the cinematography is award-worthy – the way the camera follows Snežana Marković (Lamija) in a crucial scene is a scene to watch out for. All actors do a fine job. An average fare and if you are not a Tanovic fan, this film can be missed!
My rating - ** ½ out of 5!
