Mirror (June 10) had earlier reported that Shraddha Kapoor has been finalised to play underworld queen Haseena Parkar in filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia's next, while elder brother Siddhanth will take on the character of Dawood Ibrahim. Siddhanth has already begun his prep and sis will join him after she wraps up Mohit Suri's Half Girlfriend with Arjun Kapoor.
"Besides watching films set against the background of Mumbai's underworld, including Shootout at Lokhandwala, Once Upon a Time Mumbaai and Black Friday, Siddhanth is reading S Hussain Zaidi's crime saga Dongri to Dubai to understand his character and the scene better. He will then pass on the book to Shraddha," informs a source. The duo will be spending two hours every day from October on readings and action workshops.
The film will touch Haseena's dealings with slum redevelopment authorities, negotiating overseas rights of Hindi films, the Hawala racket and the territorial wars among cable operators. Her character ages from 15 to 42, while Siddhanth's will span 19 to 45 years. "Besides using prosthetics, they will also have to gain weight and perfect the Bombaiya accent," says the source.
Siddhanth recently visited Nagpada, once home to Dawood. He will start shooting from October in Thailand, Mumbai and Pune. Shraddha will join him by early December. The closeness Haseena and Dawood shared will be reflected in the film. Siddhanth has revealed that the siblings biggest ace is their understanding of each other. "We're extremely close, more like best friends. Shra's my person," he had told Mirror earlier.
