Even as patrons await to see Sushant Singh Rajput playing Mahendra Singh Dhoni in Neeraj Pandey's biopic, we hear that the Indian cricket captain recommended the actor for the film. Apparently, after seeing Kai Po Che on a flight, Mahi felt Sushant was the right actor to emulate him in M S Dhoni -The Untold Story.

When the makers of the movie were shortlisting actors to play the protagonist, our Captain Cool suggested Sushant's name, insisting that no other youngster was in the space to work on a realistic biopic.Interestingly, both Mahi and Sushant have had similar journeys, coming from small towns and making it big in their respective fields.

Producer Arun Pandey, who was accompanying Dhoni when they watched the actor's debut film on the flight, says, “Seeing Sushant bowling, fielding and talking about cricket, we thought he could be the perfect man to play the role. Moreover, we wanted someone who's raw, hardworking and wants to deliver the essence on screen.“
