Period films are usually
revered by movie buffs as they transport viewers to a bygone era.
However, if their look is not right, then it can be quite
disappointing. The makers of the upcoming drama, Rustom, which is based
on a true incident of 1959 when a Naval Commander shot his wife's lover,
understood this fact and conducted a lot of research to ensure that
they get the minutest details correct.
Since Akshay Kumar plays Rustom Pavri, a Parsi naval officer in the thriller, director Tinu Suresh Desai's team did an extensive recce of Parsi homes in Mumbai to recreate it for celluloid. A unit member says, “Besides matching the exterior and interior of Akshay's house in the film, we made sure that even the small props on the sets looked authentic.“ Moreover, vintage cars were also sourced for the shoot. However, the crew faced an uphill task while handling these vehicles as they would suddenly stop mid-way and had to be pushed manually to complete the shot.
Rustom, produced by Zee Studios and Kriarj Entertainment in association with Cape Of Good Films and Plan C, releases on August 12.
