Actor Akshay Kumar says that
the subject of his upcoming film, Rustom, will save marriages and stop
divorces. “You invest so much into a relationship, this film is going to
tell you what goes into it. It is a different subject, based on a
real-life story, and this is the first time an actor is playing a Parsi
naval officer,“ he asserted.
When asked what was the one thing he'd like to take back from the film, Akshay quipped, “I am going to take my uniform.“
The film is based on the theme of infidelity. When Akshay Kumar's character learns that his wife has been cheating on him, he kills her lover, leading to a court case, a media trial and public sympathy. The film is based on the 1959 case of a naval officer K M Nanavati who was tried for the murder of his wife's lover.
The film has received support from the industry with Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, Sonakshi Sinha, Sonam Kapoor and Karan Johar posting special videos on social media, urging their fans to go watch the film. “It is nice to see the whole fraternity coming together and doing this, it helps a lot,“ admitted the actor.
