RUSTOM has emerged the second biggest hit of 2016 after SULTAN as it held up well on the crucial second Friday. The film has collected around 4.25 crore nett on its second Friday taking its eight day total to around 93 crore nett. The film should beat the nett business of AIRLIFT of 123 crore nett but even if it falls short by a crore or two, the distributor share of the film will be higher and so will the GROSS business as AIRLIFT had tax exemption in UP from second week onward which meant its NETT business was actually the GROSS also. The higher share than AIRLIFT will give it second place in the hit list of 2016 headed by Sultan. The collections of RUSTOM are almost double of the new release HAPPY BHAG JAYEGI and the lead could increase over the weekend.
The weekend of the film could go to 17-18 crore nett or even higher depending on the growth on Saturday and Sunday. Normally hit films jump huge on the second Saturday but RUSTOM has had a few holidays in its first week. So the consumption is higher than normal which could tell a little on the growth over the weekend. The film is now being driven by the two big circuits Mumbai and Delhi /UP.
-----------------
RUSTOM remained strong on Saturday though the growth could have been more but the holidays in the first week are probably holding it back a little. The film stands 99 crore nett after nine days and will probably cross the business of HOUSEFULL 3 by the end of business on Monday. The business of RUSTOM in the first two days of its second weekend is as follows.
Friday - 4,25,00,000
Saturday - 5,75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 10,00,00,000
GRAND TOTAL - 99,00,00,000
-----------------
RUSTOM had the third highest second weekend of the year after SULTAN and AIRLIFT as it grossed 17 crore nett approx. This takes the total business of the film to 106 crore nett apprx. The daily breakdown of the second weekend is as follows.
Friday - 4,25,00,000
Saturday - 5,75,00,000
Sunday - 7,00,00,000
TOTAL - 17,00,00,000
The business of SULTAN was 34 crore nett and AIRLIFT was 18.50 crore nett (tax free in UP). The business of SULTAN in second weekend is almost the same as RUSTOM plus AIRLIFT in the second weekend despite the extended nine day first week with multiple holidays. The holidays in the first week have also taken their toll slightly on RUSTOM as well because the growth could have been a little better over the weekend. Still in ten days it has beaten the lifetime figures of AIRLIFT in places like HOUSEFULL 3.
The distributor share of the film 54.50 crore in ten days while the share of AIRLIFT was 59.75 crore. That is the figure it has to beat to become the second biggest hit of 2016. It should cross sometime in the third weekend. It will cross the GROSS business of RUSTOM while the NETT business may be a tighter call due to that tax exemption in Delhi/UP for AIRLIFT which pushed up the AIRLIFT NETT collections by 2-3 crore.
