Salman Khan took off to Ladakh this month with girlfriend Iulia Vantur to kick off the first schedule of Kabir Khan's 2017 Eid release, Tubelight, his third collaboration with the director after Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Joining them on the sets is Bhai's new screen love, the Beijing-based actress Zhu Zhu who makes her Bollywood debut in the historical drama. Written by Neelesh Misra, Tubelight is set during the 1962 SinoIndian War.

Zhu Zhu landed in Mumbai two months ago and was staying at a Bandra five star. Kabir Khan and casting director Mukesh Chabbra assigned a Hindi tutor to her since the Chinese actress will have a few lines in Hindi. The actress also undertook an extensive workshop.

Zhu Zhu rose to fame in China as a VJ for MTV while studying to become an electrical engineer in 2005. She went on to feature in the critically acclaimed Wachowski siblings production, Cloud Atlas, in 2012, followed by 11 international films over the next three years, including Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu-starrer, The Man with the Iron Fists, and Last Flight alongside Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick.

Earlier this year, Zhu Zhu wrapped up the second season of the Netflix show, Marco Polo, in which she plays the Blue Princess, Kokachin.

Over the last six years, Zhu Zhu has made it to TC Candler's “100 Most Beautiful Faces“ of 2012 and 2013. In the same year, she graced the Vanity Fair annual ball. Her style icon status back home has earned the porcelainfaced beauty endorsement deals with top global fashion houses, including Stella McCartney, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton.

Speculation about the female lead in Kabir Khan’s Tubelight starring Salman Khan has finally been put to rest. It’s neither Deepika Padukone nor Katrina Kaif. Chinese actress-VJ Zhu Zhu is set to play Salman’s love interest in the period drama set against the backdrop of the 1962 Sino-Indian war. She joined the set in Ladakh last weekend and seems excited about her Bollywood debut, as evident from pictures that she shared on social media. We hear she is also taking Hindi lessons at the shooting location because, duh, it’s a Bollywood film. hitlist tells you more about the petite beauty. Zhu Zhu rose to fame as a veejay with MTV China. She won a singing competition in Beijing where she was spotted by MTV's head hunters and hired as a video jockey. She is an engineer, who graduated with majors in electronics and information engineering from the Beijing Technology and Business University. After playing bit roles in various films, she received her first leading role in the series Great Mr Zhou for which she earned critical acclaim. Her 70 mm debut was in the Chinese remake of What Women Want.

An actress in big budget Hollywood films, she has starred alongside Russell Crowe and WWE star Dave Bautista in The Man With The Iron Fists and in the Wachowskis’ 2012 sci-fi epic Cloud Atlas where she played the futuristic character, 12th Star Clone She’s a professional singer and released her first self-titled album in 2009. Zhu also writes her own plays. Her first tryst with the stage was in school for a dramatisation of Beauty And The Beast.

She has dated Lapo Elkann, heir to Italy’s Agnelli family empire, which owns automobile giant Fiat and Italian football club, Juventus. They were first spotted kissing at a car race in 2012 and the photos went viral. The couple, however, split a year later.

Quite the fashion icon in China, her unique style led to collaborations with top fashion houses, including Stella McCartney, Gucci, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Salvatore Ferragamo, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton.
