"Sir, mi vichaar kartoy ki mi kay aahe… Mi ek cricketer aahe, pun mi ithe Kharagpur station var TC chya kaam karit aahe ..." Imagine Sushant Singh Rajput mouthing these lines in M S Dhoni - The Untold Story. The actor, who plays the Indian cricket captain in the much- awaited biography, will be seen talking in aamchi bhaasha for the entire duration of the movie. For, the film is set to get a Marathi makeover.
The makers of the film recently launched the trailer in two other languages. While actor-producer Dhanush took to Twitter to launch the Tamil version, ace Telugu actor Naveen Babu, better known as Nani, unveiled the trailer in Telugu.
A source working on the project says, “The makers wanted to cater to Dhoni fans across the nation and so, have decided to launch the trailer in various languages. It could well be the first Hindi film to get a Marathi release.” The biopic is set to hit theatres by the end of September.
While simultaneous releases in Tamil and Telugu are commonplace, why this sudden interest in Marathi? Director Neeraj Pandey explains, “M S Dhoni’s popularity transcends language. He is one of India’s favourite sons and by far, the most successful Indian cricket captain. That’s reason enough for us to release his biopic in multiple languages.”
