Situated in the midst of a
burgeoning corporate and lifestyle address in Mumbai is KOKO, the Tham
brothers' most recent venture. Combining their rich heritage of Chinese
and Indian, and the ability to take their legacy forward, Ryan and
Keenan Tham have come up with yet another front runner.
With the actual meaning of 'koko' being 'elder brother', one would think Keenan has taken the tradition of all their establishments named after their family one notch further (Henry Tham, Trilogy and The Good Wife). However, here, the name stands for the place being reportedly bigger than anything else the city has seen - bigger on music and richness of food, the space it has to offer, its interiors, the cocktails they've concocted and the aura it exudes.
Spread across nearly 3,500 sqft, KOKO is aiming at becoming one of Mumbai's most legendary spots. While Henry Tham is said to have revolutionised the city's music scene with percussionists and world music nights, Trilogy gave Mumbai's party crowd a happenin' place to hang out at. The Good Wife changed the eating and drinking patterns of corporates. And now, KOKO is looking at becoming the city's quintessential Asian gastropub, making its mark in the high-end elite genre while giving a sense of comfort to its patrons.

Imran Khan and his wife Avantika party the night away; followed by a lavish post-Eid brunch with Sona
Sanyukta Iyer (MUMBAI MIRROR; July 9, 2016)
On Thursday night, after Eid celebrations with his family, Imran Khan walked into a new restobar at an Andheri mall with wife Avantika Malik for the cabaret-themed launch of the chain's new outpost.
Once inside, Imran was delighted to see friend-restaurateur and owner of the new dig, Riyaaz Amlani's wife Kiran, belting out chartbusters with an in-house band. Instantly, he was on his toes, pulling his wife along for a jig. Actress Shriya Saran also danced the night away to hit tracks like "Valerie" and "Sway", but Ranbir Kapoor, a close friend of the gang, dropped out at the last minute due to a prior commitment.
The party did not end at the crack of dawn for the star couple, as on Friday, they headed out for lunch to a swish continental eatery in the 'burbs where they bumped into the actor's Once Upon in Mumbai Dobaara! co-star Sonakshi Sinha. "Akira looks awesome!" Imran exclaimed, while Mrs Khan went snap-happy with the lunching party, which included choreographer Jessica Nicholas, photographer Cyrus Dalal, designer Mehma Tibb and the hosts, Keenan and Neha Tham. She was pleased with the spread and cocktails but groused. "Girls: We're out and we look nice (for a change), let's take some pics! Boys: Let's ruin every pic by doing something stupid," she cheekily posted on Instagram.
