Sonakshi Sinha who has earlier cut the single, Aaj
Mood Ishqholic Hai, with Meet Bros Anjjan, is now singing for a film.
She is the latest to join the gang of actresses who have sung for their
films like Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra. Sonakshi
recently recorded a song for her next release Akira.
What made you sing this particular song?
The song Hai ranjishein tere mere darmiyaan zindagi, Gunjayishein samjhoton ki dur tak dikhti nahi... expresses rage. It is about how the girl will not stay silent, but fight back and that’s the spirit of the song. We were shooting the music video and every time I went to give a shot I would end up singing it with all my zest. It’s just one of those songs. So the producers suggested that I should record it as well. Everyone was shocked because I spent a total of 30 minutes behind the mic! It was a fantastic experience and totally the kind of zone that I want to be in. Hai ranjishein... is the kind of song I have always wanted to sing. Shekhar (Ravjiani) was also encouraging and that helped a lot.
Did you rehearse before singing it?
No I didn’t. It was actually a spur-of-the moment thing and honestly all my rehearsals happened while shooting the video. I just landed up at the studio after that and recorded it in about half-an-hour, even Shekhar was surprised. Though I haven’t taken any formal training, I have always enjoyed singing. And I guess when you love to do something, over time you get better at it.
Akira is complete, so will your song be for a promotional video?
Yes, it is. It’s a great song and will be really good for me to connect with the youth while promoting the film. It has a great feel to it.
