GREAT GRAND MASTI had a very poor first day with collections of around 2.50 crore nett. The film started with low figures and with such a start it would be expected to gain some some ground through the day which it did not. So despite a pretty low screen count of 1700 screens for a mass film like this it will probably struggle to show much of an upturn on day two due to the first day trend.

That film did have a copy which was leaked online around ten days back has probably made a dent on the collections but not to the extent that it would have been able to challenge the earlier films in the brand which did well at the box office.

The main problem with the film is that the genre is just not working. There are two genres which can be safe bets without stars which are horror and sex comedy but the latter is just not finding an audience. There have been three sex comedies this year and the opening day figures have got lower each time. Below are opening day figures of sex comedy films in 2016

GREAT GRAND MASTI was easily a bigger film than the other two as the last installment opened at 12.19 crore nett in 2013 but things have changed a lot since then. A 2014 release for this film would have probably yielded much better results as it would be coming fresh of the earlier film and without censor issues.
