Salman Khan's 'raped woman'
comment took the social media by storm on Monday night. His
foot-in-the-mouth remark did not go down well with the Twitterati who
slayed him mercilessly. The actor had made this remark on Saturday
evening while he was giving interviews for his upcoming film. A source,
who was present at the media interactions, says that 'it was a loose
comment, taken out of context'. We heard the recording and the
conversation went like this. “Learning wrestling wasn't very difficult.
But getting the physicality was. Unless you train well, you cannot get
the body of a wrestler. My day was divided between weight training,
learning fight tricks, then punching, kicking and mixed martial arts. It
used to take around six hours. And if you do not put that many hours,
you'll look like a fraud. It was six hours of utha pathak. Can you
imagine picking up a 120 kilo person, ten times over in a day to get
five different angles? It is exhausting.
When I used to walk out of the ring, after the shoot, I would feel like a
raped woman.“ The journalists chuckled at that comment. Salman continued
to say, “I don't think I should have said this. I couldn't walk
straight...“ Reports also say that Salman was apologetic about the
comment and requested journalists not to use it.
The interview and the faux pas happened on Saturday evening, but the rape comment was only singled out and published by a website on Monday evening, and, as per custom, Twitter erupted. Angry fans demanded that the actor apologise, and the National Commission for Women has given him seven days to do so.
The actor received a lot of flak on social media for the inappropriate analogy prompting his father Salim Khan to apologise on his behalf. He said that the actor's comment was wrong but his intention wasn't.
