Priyadarshan is gearing up for the release of his Malayalam directorial, Oppam, and reveals that he'd love to remake it in Hindi for a larger audience. The upcoming Malayali crime-fiction features Mohanlal as Jayaram, a blind lift operator who witnesses a murder in a flat. The murderer escapes and, based on circumstantial evidence, Jayaram becomes the prime suspect. He is then forced to find the real killer to prove his innocence.

When asked about his remake plans, Priyan confirms, “Once Oppam releases, I will pitch it to Bollywood actors. There are already enquiries for Tamil and Telugu remakes. I am just waiting for it to release in Malayalam and see how it is received by the audience.“

The Hera Pheri director who is famous for his comic capers admits that he wanted to step out of his comfort zone and try something new. “I wanted to try a new genre because I thought I was repeating myself. I have made romances, comedies and period films but never a proper crime-thriller. This film also reunited me with Mohanlal. We have always teamed up for great films,“ he beams Oppam hits screens in September.
