The Tamil-Telugu-Hindi trilingual Sabhash Kundu
(Shabaash Kundu in Hindi) featuring Kamal Haasan and his daughter Shruti
together for the first time, which is being shot in the US, has run
into a rough spot. Director Rajeev Kumar is severely ill and cannot
shoot the film.
Earlier this week, reports suggested that Haasan had taken over the direction of one song sequence while Rajeev recuperated. However, Haasan now confirms that he has taken over the direction of the entire film. He says, “My director has taken ill. The unfortunate setback occurred on the fourth day of our recce in Los Angeles. He has been diagnosed with Lyme disease. A rare infection prevalent in Europe and North America. I am now directing the film.” The character that he plays in Sabhash Kundu is from Dasavathaaram, the film that the actor-director directed in 2008. Haasan adds, “Yes, I have done it before. This time I moved in as a standby director hoping my friend will recover. It seems he will, but not in time to finish this film, which is tightly scheduled to end principle shooting by July-end or the first week of August.”
